Also, sometimes she is blonde and sometimes she is brunette. She has horizontally-striped legs alternating between two shades of grey. The upper part of her face, wings and abdomen are white, while the lower part of her face is a dark gray. Sometimes she is wearing a red dress and sometimes a blue dress. Gladys is a female crane with large black eyes and a circular, crimson crest atop her head. Gladys and her Serpent pals then proceed to make a mess of things after knocking over a table. Reggie asks if Veronica would like for him to bounce someone out, but with their current standing with Gladys, that would be impossible. At La Bonne Nuit, Gladys and her companions cause commotion.

In all of Gladys's appearances throughout the series prior to her being officially introduced in "The One With Ross' Grant", her appearance is constantly changing. Gladys and her friends drinking at La Bonne Nuit.In "The One With Ross' Grant", Monica is mortified at the thought of hanging Gladys in her apartment, but in the flashback episodes, when Monica and Phoebe were roommates, Gladys can be seen hanging in Monica's apartment on the wall to the left of the front door.In " The One With Phoebe's Dad", Gladys can be seen hanging in Phoebe's grandmother's apartment, although this time she's dressed in red. Horrified by the even more dreadful sight that is Glyniss, the two girls then really start fighting over who gets to keep Gladys.
At that moment, Phoebe enters the apartment and tells them they don't need to worry anymore, because whoever that doesn't get Gladys will get Glyniss, a new piece similar to Gladys she has just created (but with white skin, ghastly makeup and baby dolls floating around her). This results in a big fight between Rachel and Monica over who gets to keep it. Terrified, Joey demands Rachel to take the picture away. Not being able to convince Joey to return the picture back to Monica, Rachel then tells him that Gladys is haunted and that every night she comes out of her frame, starts crawling with her one free hand, and looks for legs to steal. Nonetheless, she manages to sell it to Joey when Rachel is not around. Monica then attempts to give the picture to Rachel in two different occasions, although she fails both times. When Rachel finds out, and knowing how high maintenance Monica is, she mocks her for being stuck with the picture. In " The One With Ross' Grant", Phoebe gives Gladys to Monica because Mike hates it.
